Knovelhead - The Production
For the production of the Knovelhead rocker boxes first we need a sand form for the front box and one for the rear box.
The most essential cavities are already
provided by cores worked correspondingly in the sand form. However, the cores are even more important for the quality of the material composition.

After the casting the brutes must cool down befor further processing. Here you see a front and a back one with the typical casting trumpets and the frames.
The casting trumpets and the frame were removed with a band-saw here.
The rough burrs which inevitably arise at the cast as well were also removed here.
You see the inter-condition of a front rocker box after the first processing steps which follows the casting here well.
Left are still thin burrs and two extentions which we need for the later CNC processing.
The thin burrs and sharp edges were removed by an expert at the ribbon grinding machine here.
The further processing follows on a CNC-milling center here soon, too
